Milltek’s development 1 Series M Coupé arrived having already had a very mild-stage 1 ecu remap. After a week’s fettling by Milltek’s technicians, the car was taken to MRC Tuning (one of Milltek’s premiere UK dealers) to make use of their Dyno facilities.
With just the mild-stage 1 remap and standard exhaust system, the car was dyno-tested at 355bhp / 600Nm (it leaves BMW’s factory in Munich with 340bhp and 450Nm).
The 1M then went up on the ramps for MRC Tuning to fit the new Milltek secondary cat-back exhaust system – a straight-forward job as the Milltek engineers did a great job at making the new system super-easy to fit. The car went back on the dyno and showed an impressive 5bhp / 5Nm gain (so 360bhp and 605Nm overall).
The final task was to fit and dyno test the car with the full primary cat-back system which removes the cars’ secondary catalysts. Even bigger power gains and better throttle response were expected and the final figures didn’t disappoint – 371bhp and 616Nm – which equates to a very impressive 16bhp power increase and an extra 16Nm or torque to play with!
We’ll have some video and further information here shortly…
Milltek would like to say a big thanks to MRC Tuning for their help in the testing of the new exhaust system.
